15” Industrial Touch Monitor for Money Changers and Casino Machines

Designing an industrial monitor that is perfectly integrated into the machine structure means combining performance, durability, and aesthetic quality.

For this project, KF developed a 15” industrial touch display for money changers and casino machines, designed for semi-outdoor applications and featuring a bonded double-glass structure that ensures flush integration with the enclosure, operational reliability, and superior optical quality.

The need

In the money changer and casino machine industry, the display is one of the most important elements of the user interface. In addition to ensuring reliability and readability, it must integrate seamlessly into the machine’s design, contributing to the perceived quality of the final product.

For this project, the customer was looking for an industrial touch monitor capable of fitting seamlessly into the machine door, creating a continuous surface between the display and the metal structure. The solution also had to ensure reliable performance in semi-outdoor environments and in settings characterized by varying lighting conditions

The challenge

The goal was to develop an industrial display that was fully integrated into the machine’s metalwork, eliminating any discontinuity between the monitor glass and the surrounding metal surface.

The solution had to offer high mechanical durability, optimal visual quality, and ease of installation, while maintaining the flexibility required to adapt to the customer’s mounting points and construction specifications.

An additional requirement was the system’s ability to operate over a wide temperature range, ensuring continuous operation even in particularly demanding applications.

The solution

KF developed a 15” industrial touch monitor specifically designed for money handling and gaming applications.
The solution integrates a 500 cd/m² TFT display with adjustable brightness and an optical structure consisting of two bonded glass layers: a 2 mm lower glass layer with a laminated touch sensor and a 4 mm upper glass layer, designed to match the thickness of the machine door’s sheet metal.
Thanks to this configuration, the monitor integrates seamlessly into the system structure, bringing the glass flush with the enclosure and creating a uniform, continuous surface between the display and the metal.
The bonding between the two glass layers is achieved using OCR technology (Optical Crystal Resin), while the entire optical assembly is subsequently bonded to the TFT using the same technology. This process improves visual quality, reduces internal reflections, and increases the overall durability of the industrial display.
To ensure maximum compatibility with the customer’s system, KF developed fully customised mounting brackets, designed around the machine’s anchoring points. A gasket applied along the perimeter of the lower glass layer also prevents any interference between the monitor and the metal structure during installation.
The monitor integrates the proprietary KF1840 board, equipped with HDMI, VGA, and DisplayPort video interfaces. The display brightness can be managed directly via the OSD menu or remotely through the integrated USB-B connection.

Thanks to its extended operating temperature range of -30°C to +80°C, the system is suitable for both indoor installations and semi-outdoor applications.
